Senior Lab Systems Scientist

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, development, and continuous improvement of laboratory systems for scalable clinical testing
• Design, implement, and optimize laboratory technologies and tech transfer programs
• Develop performance qualification, validation, and verification plans in alignment with CAP, CLIA, and NYSDOH regulations
• Collaborate with Software and Automation Engineering to define system requirements and test cases
• Author standard operating procedures (SOPs), validation protocols, and technical reports
• Evaluate operational outcomes through KPI monitoring and implement continuous improvement initiatives
• Serve as a senior subject matter expert for wet lab workflows, automation platforms, and laboratory software

Requirements

• Advanced degree in molecular biology, engineering, or related discipline (PhD or ASCP/CGMBS preferred)
• 8+ years of laboratory experience including R&D, clinical LDT assay development, and automation
• Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) and DNA/RNA molecular biology
• Experience designing and executing validation and verification studies in regulated environments
• Strong understanding of ISO 13485, CAP, CLIA, and NYSDOH standards
• Proficiency in experimental design, data analysis, and technical problem solving
• Experience with agile-scrum methodology and project management

Preferred Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green belt certification
