Senior Lab Automation Engineer

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, develop, and implement automated solutions for NGS assays
• Develop standalone instruments and integrated systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams of scientists, engineers, and software engineers
• Provide high-level support for developed processes at instrument and assay results levels
• Integrate various instruments including liquid handlers, plate readers, and plate-handling robotics
• Manage relationships with external contractors

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related scientific field
• 4+ years of experience in laboratory automation engineering
• Technical proficiency in automation and systems development within the life sciences industry
• Experience with robotics and liquid handling systems (e.g., Tecan, Hamilton)
• Ability to travel between local Austin sites

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in NGS or clinical laboratories
• Experience in software programming and data handling
• Experience working with LIMS systems
• Familiarity with software development practices
