About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide structuring and execution advice for IFC's investments in plain vanilla and thematic bonds (climate, social, impact, etc.) and other debt securities.
  • Develop a consistent bond investment approach across all IFC industry groups and regions.
  • Build a strong pipeline of investment opportunities by anticipating market trends and leveraging sector/country knowledge.
  • Evaluate, structure, and negotiate new transactions, including covered bonds and MBSs.
  • Review bond prospectus terms and conditions to advise investment and credit teams on covenants and deal structures.
  • Manage relationships with arrangers in multiple jurisdictions and connect them with regional investment teams.
  • Support portfolio teams in monitoring bond portfolios and developing exit strategies.
  • Mentor and train junior staff and provide guidance to IFC investment teams on structured products.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in debt capital markets (DCM) with a deep understanding of industry trends.
  • Proven experience across the entire bond deal life cycle, including book building, documentation, pricing, and execution.
  • Strong negotiation skills for both straightforward and complex transactions.
  • Extensive experience with debt capital markets transactions in emerging markets.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and business judgment skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural teams and manage conflicting priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CFA designation.
  • Proficiency in additional major languages such as French or Spanish.
  • Background in liability management, corporate finance, or credit analysis.
