About the role
Responsibilities
- Independently lead and deliver end-to-end internal audit engagements in accordance with Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS)
- Support the Head of Internal Audit in developing and updating the rolling risk-based internal audit plan
- Conduct risk assessments and advisory reviews to identify emerging risks and control weaknesses
- Prepare clear, impactful audit reports with practical recommendations for senior management
- Manage the tracking and validation of management action plans and remediation efforts
- Support governance reporting for the Leadership Team, Director General, and Board
- Provide independent advisory support on governance, enterprise risk management, and internal controls
- Leverage data analytics and technology-enabled audit techniques to enhance effectiveness
- Provide guidance and coaching to junior internal audit staff and interns
- Coordinate and oversee co-sourced or outsourced internal audit engagements
Requirements
- 7–10 years of progressive internal audit experience in complex or international organizations
- Strong knowledge of Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS) and risk-based auditing methodologies
- Proven experience in developing risk-based audit plans and conducting comprehensive risk assessments
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and report-writing skills
- Professional proficiency in English
- Ability to operate with high autonomy in a lean or resource-constrained environment
- Professional certification (CIA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) strongly preferred
- Experience with audit tools and data analytics (e.g., Power BI, ACL/IDEA, Excel, SQL) is an advantage
- Familiarity with grant-funded, nonprofit, or international development settings is an advantage
