About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end internal audit engagements including planning, fieldwork, execution, reporting, and follow-up in accordance with Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS).
- Support the Head of Internal Audit in developing and updating the rolling risk-based internal audit plan and performing enterprise-wide risk assessments.
- Conduct advisory reviews to identify emerging risks, control weaknesses, and governance gaps.
- Prepare clear, impactful audit reports with practical, risk-focused recommendations for senior management and governance bodies.
- Manage the tracking and validation of management action plans to ensure effective remediation.
- Provide independent advisory support on governance, enterprise risk management, and internal controls.
- Leverage data analytics and technology-enabled audit techniques to enhance effectiveness and insight generation.
- Provide guidance and coaching to junior internal audit staff and oversee co-sourced or outsourced engagements.
Requirements
- 7–10 years of progressive internal audit experience, ideally within complex or international organizations.
- Strong knowledge of Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS) and risk-based auditing methodologies.
- Proven ability to manage full audit cycles independently with a high degree of autonomy.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and professional report-writing skills.
- Professional proficiency in English.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and constructively challenge senior, geographically dispersed stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification such as CIA, CPA, or ACCA.
- Experience with data analytics tools including Power BI, ACL/IDEA, or SQL.
- Familiarity with grant-funded environments, non-profit settings, or international development.
