Senior Integrated Photonics Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate, and optimize novel integrated photonic devices and photonic integrated circuits for quantum computing
• Take a leading role in photonic tapeouts, including hands-on layout, DOE, and circuit design
• Collaborate with test and lab teams to plan and execute automated high-volume tests
• Develop and implement new analysis and test methods
• Analyze measurement data to improve components and circuits
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to build and characterize high-performance photonic chips and assemblies
• Mentor junior staff members

Requirements

• MS or PhD in electrical engineering, applied physics, optical engineering, or related discipline
• PhD with relevant exposure to integrated photonics and electro-optic devices required
• Expertise in integrated photonic devices (passive and active) with a focus on electro-optic phase shifters and modulators
• Experience with design and modeling tools such as Ansys Lumerical, Tidy3D, COMSOL, or Meep
• Experience with photonic tapeouts and understanding of foundry processes
• Proficiency in Python and Matlab
• Strong data analysis and visualization skills

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of industry experience in integrated photonics technologies
• Experience with high-speed operation (10 GHz bandwidth and beyond)
• Knowledge of RF concepts, signal integrity, and tools like HFSS or ADS
• Photonic layout experience using IPKISS or GDSFactory
• Experience with high-speed characterization techniques (S-parameter measurements, large-signal time-domain analysis)
• Familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and VNAs
