Senior Instrument Calibration Scientist

Responsibilities

• Own radiometric and geometric calibration standards across multiple instrument programs
• Lead the design and development of scalable calibration test hardware infrastructure
• Lead the planning and execution of pre-launch radiometric and geometric calibration campaigns
• Support definition and tracking of metrics to monitor instrument performance from ground to orbit
• Collaborate with instrument and spacecraft systems engineers, data scientists, and program managers
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support on-orbit anomaly resolution

Requirements

• Ph.D. with 3+ years of experience, M.S. with 6+ years, or B.S. with 8+ years of industry experience in imaging systems and infrared remote sensing
• Proficiency in Python, Julia, or C++
• Hands-on experience with precision optical equipment for instrument characterization
• Experience with root cause analysis, data analysis, and testing
• Experience performing data analysis, post-processing, and test report generation
• Must be a U.S. person or eligible to access export-controlled information

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting business development and technical proposals
• Experience translating mission and science requirements into technical requirements
• Experience developing instrument concept of operations (ConOps)
• Experience working in cleanroom environments
• Experience supporting environmental testing (TVAC, vibration) and launch campaigns
