Senior Infrastructure Engineer

About the Company

Northwood is a modern space infrastructure company bringing the benefits of space to the masses through advanced communications technology. We are building a global network of phased array ground stations that enable real-time, reliable communication for satellite missions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and drive scope in one or more areas of the infrastructure stack
• Set technical direction by writing RFCs and evaluating tradeoffs
• Act as the final escalation point for on-call incidents and lead post-incident reviews
• Raise the bar through design review, code review, and mentorship
• Partner with security, compliance, product engineering, and ground station ops
• Identify and eliminate systemic toil and underinvestment
• Represent the infrastructure team in technical decisions across the organization

Requirements

• 5+ years of production infrastructure experience (SRE, DevOps, platform, network, or systems engineering)
• Competence in Linux, networking, AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability, and secrets management
• Strong code and automation skills in Python, Go, or similar
• Proven track record of taking ambiguous problems to design and implementation
• Senior on-call experience
• US person status (ITAR requirement)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance

• Expertise in Networking (FortiGate, BGP, IPsec, WireGuard)
• Security engineering (Vault, IAM, SIEM)
• Compliance implementation (CMMC, FedRAMP, NIST 800-171)
• Observability at scale (VictoriaMetrics, Prometheus)
• App platform management (EKS, k3s, ArgoCD, GitOps)
• Cloud architecture (AWS GovCloud, Cloudflare, hybrid/air-gapped deployments)
• On-prem and hardware-adjacent operations
