About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and techno-commercial expertise to support IFC’s investment decision-making process for gas and LNG transactions.
- Undertake appraisals of investments, including site visits, supervising external consultants, and reviewing major contracts.
- Collaborate with internal WBG teams, including investment officers, legal counsel, and environmental specialists, to deliver high-quality project recommendations.
- Monitor technical aspects of the gas and LNG portfolio throughout the construction and operational phases.
- Conduct market analysis and provide thought leadership on emerging trends, technologies, and policies within the sector.
- Contribute to the development of sector strategies, integrating gas and LNG solutions into energy transition and climate resilience frameworks.
- Build and maintain relationships with private sector clients, government agencies, and development partners.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (master’s or higher) in engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in the global gas and LNG sector, ideally in senior roles within an International Oil Company (IOC) or engineering consultancy.
- Strong technical knowledge of gas and LNG infrastructure, supply chains, and emerging technologies.
- Expertise in project development and project finance.
- Familiarity with commercial and contractual norms, including GSAs, LNG SPAs, TUAs, and PPAs.
- Fluency in English.
- Ability to travel for work and work effectively within multicultural teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS).
- Knowledge of global LNG and regional gas market trends, particularly regarding gas-fired power generation.
- Experience with competitive fuel analysis across various hydrocarbons (natural gas, diesel, HFO, LPG).
- Proficiency in Spanish and/or French.
