About the role
Responsibilities
- Design and continuously improve industrial systems and plant layouts using 3D modeling software based on defined design parameters and functional requirements
- Integrate OEM and supplier components into complete mechanical and process systems
- Create and maintain designs for process equipment, skid-mounted systems, tanks, piping, and vessels, including structural and automation documentation
- Coordinate with process and controls engineers, equipment suppliers, and contractors during installation, startup, and commissioning
- Prepare detailed layout and general arrangement drawings, including piping isometrics and duct routings
- Utilize PDM/Vault systems to manage 3D models, part numbering, and engineering release workflows
- Ensure all designs comply with workplace health and safety policies and best practices
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Design with 10+ years of experience in plant design and systems integration, OR a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 8+ years of relevant professional experience
- Advanced experience developing complex industrial system designs and equipment layouts in processing, manufacturing, or chemical environments
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD platforms for creating 3D equipment layouts and GA drawings
- Demonstrated ability to integrate automation hardware, controls systems, and robotics into mechanical designs
- Strong understanding of human factors, ergonomics, and operational safety in complex facility environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Practical experience with AutoCAD P&ID, Plant 3D, or similar plant design software
- Background designing systems involving aggressive media, corrosive liquids, or high-temperature environments
- Experience supporting Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) activities during production scale-up
- Experience working within startup, pilot plant, or rapid-growth technical environments
