About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead concept generation through ideation, brainstorming, and competitive assessments to identify unmet user needs.
- Develop designs using digital sketching, advanced 3D CAD surfacing, rendering, and physical 3D printed models.
- Communicate design intent through visual storytelling to gain acceptance from project teams and leadership.
- Drive collaboration with cross-functional teams, specifically marketing and engineering, to deliver designs based on established criteria.
- Evaluate and apply fundamentals of ergonomics and usability to product solutions.
- Determine construction, mechanisms, color, materials, and manufacturing processes in cooperation with other business functions.
- Provide direct mentorship and guidance to lower-level designers to pass on best practices and organizational knowledge.
- Monitor projects through pre-production stages to perform craftsmanship reviews and ensure design intent.
Requirements
- BS, BA, or BFA in Industrial Design.
- 7+ years of professional experience designing in a product development environment.
- Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD, rendering software, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong sketching and physical model-making skills.
- A dynamic product design portfolio demonstrating process through sketches, renderings, mock-ups, and CAD modeling.
- Proven ability to collaborate in a team environment and manage multiple high-complexity projects concurrently.
