Senior In-house Legal Counsel

Responsibilities

• Draft and manage complex contracts, making critical judgment calls on acceptable risk to enable business deals.
• Own high-risk legal matters and provide guidance that enables commercial decisions rather than just identifying problems.
• Assess legal exposure, decide litigation strategies, and manage external counsel on novel fintech legal questions.
• Create and update policies for contract governance and regulatory compliance to support global expansion.
• Advise on cross-border legal matters, including data privacy (GDPR), regulatory compliance, and licensing.
• Partner with engineers to design and build AI tools for automating contract drafting, research, and compliance tracking.
• Translate complex legal requirements into practical, plain-language guidance for engineers, product managers, and executives.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders across business, compliance, risk, and product functions.

Requirements

• 6+ years of corporate legal experience with a proven track record of owning complex matters.
• Deep expertise in fintech law and navigating regulations in fast-moving technological environments.
• Multi-jurisdictional experience advising global organizations.
• Strong knowledge of data privacy frameworks, such as GDPR or equivalent.
• Excellent English communication skills with the ability to explain legal complexity simply.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence senior decision-makers.
• A commercially pragmatic mindset that balances legal protection with business momentum.
• Comfort with or an eagerness to use AI and automation to optimize legal processes.
