Senior II Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own Preply’s data lake and ingestion foundations
• Develop and operate scalable batch and streaming ingestion pipelines
• Implement data contracts, validation, and anomaly detection
• Build enrichment logic for data standardization and contextualization
• Instrument pipelines with observability for freshness, latency, and cost
• Apply governance, access control, and privacy protections at ingestion
• Enable self-service through standardized templates and shared libraries
• Collaborate with Product, Backend, Analytics, and ML teams

Requirements

• Experience driving architectural patterns for large, high-scale applications
• Proven track record in platform or data engineering with multi-stakeholder leadership
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) and DevOps practices
• Hands-on experience with Spark, Flink, Kafka, or Debezium
• Expertise with orchestration tools like Airflow or dbt
• Strong problem-solving skills and proactive mindset
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience scaling data infrastructure in fast-growing startups
• Proficiency with Terraform and Kubernetes
• Advanced SQL proficiency
