Senior HVAC Technician

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, repair, and modify HVAC systems across the New Jersey building portfolio
• Diagnose HVAC system problems and provide technical recommendations to supervisors
• Manage minor HVAC projects and oversee larger projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget
• Partner with senior Facilities team members and outside consultants on mechanical construction and repair activities
• Mentor junior staff and handle HVAC-related communication with stakeholders
• Maintain records of corrective and preventive work through automated work order systems
• Respond to campus emergency calls after hours as needed

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant HVAC experience, including 4+ years as a head technician
• Significant journeyman-level HVAC experience and trade knowledge
• Strong background in commercial heating projects, including hot water boilers and gas furnaces
• Advanced knowledge of BMS systems and system operations
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair refrigerant-driven, water-driven, and glycol pump systems
• Ability to read as-built plans, construction drawings, and technical manuals
• Current EPA card for dispensing refrigerants
• Valid driver’s license and vehicle
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and computer skills for BMS operation

Preferred Qualifications

• New Jersey low pressure black seal boiler certificate
• HVAC or other specialized trade licenses
