About the role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct electrical testing and commissioning on power systems including transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgears
  • Maintain and commission power distribution equipment such as HV/MV/LV cables and instrument transformers
  • Perform field testing, verification, and programming of Low Voltage Trip Units from GE, Eaton, Schneider, Siemens, and ABB
  • Read and interpret electrical AC & DC schematics, logic diagrams, and SLDs
  • Inspect, test, operate, and troubleshoot AC & DC control systems
  • Report, record, and process electrical test information according to standard practices
  • Coordinate day-to-day job functions including health and safety compliance and resource availability
  • Support sales efforts through customer contact and quotations

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with high voltage testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning
  • Familiarity with Electrical lockout/Tag out procedures and Electrical Safety Awareness
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards (OESC, IEEE, NETA)
  • Ability to travel for out-of-town projects
  • Willingness to provide emergency services and scheduled on-call rotation
  • Ability to work in industrial and outdoor substation environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • NETA 2 or NETA 3 certification
  • Experience using Doble M4100 for transformer diagnostic tests
  • Experience testing Low Voltage Trip Units, Current and Potential Transformers, and HV/MV Circuit Breaker Timing
