About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct electrical testing and commissioning on power systems including transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgears
- Maintain and commission power distribution equipment such as HV/MV/LV cables and instrument transformers
- Perform field testing, verification, and programming of Low Voltage Trip Units from GE, Eaton, Schneider, Siemens, and ABB
- Read and interpret electrical AC & DC schematics, logic diagrams, and SLDs
- Inspect, test, operate, and troubleshoot AC & DC control systems
- Report, record, and process electrical test information according to standard practices
- Coordinate day-to-day job functions including health and safety compliance and resource availability
- Support sales efforts through customer contact and quotations
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology
- Minimum 3 years of experience with high voltage testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning
- Familiarity with Electrical lockout/Tag out procedures and Electrical Safety Awareness
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards (OESC, IEEE, NETA)
- Ability to travel for out-of-town projects
- Willingness to provide emergency services and scheduled on-call rotation
- Ability to work in industrial and outdoor substation environments
Preferred Qualifications
- NETA 2 or NETA 3 certification
- Experience using Doble M4100 for transformer diagnostic tests
- Experience testing Low Voltage Trip Units, Current and Potential Transformers, and HV/MV Circuit Breaker Timing
