About the role
Responsibilities
- Own harness architecture and design from concept and schematic capture through production release
- Perform core electrical analysis including wire sizing, voltage-drop budgets, protection coordination, and component selection
- Develop and maintain schematics, harness drawings, wire lists, and splice diagrams using the Zuken E3 suite
- Drive design-to-manufacturing using Zuken E3.HarnessBuilder to automate manufacturing outputs
- Define routing intent, grounding/bonding strategies, and shielding architecture for LV, HV, and RF interconnects
- Specify physical protection and support for harnesses, including lacing, tying, and thermal/abrasion protection
- Build, modify, and validate prototype and test harnesses
- Partner across subsystems (avionics, power, propulsion, payload) and functions (production, test) to ensure seamless integration
- Lead root-cause analysis and implement design improvements for reliability and manufacturability
Requirements
- Degree in electrical, mechatronics, or a related engineering field
- 7+ years of harness design experience, including 2 to 3 years at the system level
- Proficiency in Zuken E3 (including E3.cable, E3.smallcable, and E3.HarnessBuilder)
- Strong electrical fundamentals regarding wire/cable selection, derating, and connector selection
- Fluency in IPC/WHMA-A-620 (Class 3) standards and NASA harness workmanship practices
- Hands-on experience with electrical test equipment (e.g., continuity testers, multimeters, oscilloscopes)
- U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Zuken E3.database librarian and component-data governance
- Expertise in spacecraft charging and HV design for space environments (corona/Paschen-law behavior)
- RF literacy, including shielded/coax interconnects and impedance control
- Proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as CATIA Electrical, SolidWorks, or 3DEXPERIENCE
