Senior Hardware Test Automation Engineer, Photonics

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, building, and validation of electro-optical test stations in collaboration with Validation engineers
• Define test station features and capabilities to match requirements
• Select instrumentation including lasers, detectors, optical switches, function generators, and oscilloscopes
• Manage equipment sourcing and streamline station assembly for manufacturing
• Develop optimized Python software scripts for automated test measurements, data analysis, and device characterization
• Analyze test data to extract performance parameters and create reports on production yields and failure trends
• Build code using object-oriented programming principles to optimize reuse and reduce errors
• Write operator work instructions and training procedures to ensure smooth production transitions

Requirements

• Master’s degree in engineering, computer physical science, or equivalent, or 6+ years of industry experience
• Experience interfacing and automating optical hardware test equipment (power meters, OBR, OSA, oscilloscopes, AWG, VNA)
• Proficiency in Python and object-oriented programming
• Experience developing test methods such as tuning and calibration algorithms
• Experience in the design and testing of high-speed electro-optical systems
• Technical project management experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
• Proficiency in SQL
• Experience leveraging AI to resolve problems and develop code
