Senior Group Leader, Nitrogen Fixation

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead a flagship research programme in biological nitrogen fixation in plants.
• Recruit and manage a top-tier team of research scientists, including postdocs and PhD candidates.
• Design and execute research programs focused on novel nitrogen fixing systems and advanced metabolic and protein engineering.
• Drive rigorous experimental design, execution, and data interpretation.
• Manage research program milestones, project resources, equipment, and budgets.
• Generate and maintain collaborations across the EIT ecosystem and the wider scientific community.
• Work with translation teams to convert research results into commercial opportunities and intellectual property.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading research groups within academia or industry.
• Recognized thought leader in the field of plant biology or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated ability to manage scientific output for PhD and postdoctoral researchers.
• Experience delivering against long-term strategic research programs.
• Strong project management, communication, and resource allocation skills.
• Ability to build collaborative internal and external relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in metabolic engineering or protein engineering.
• Experience in translating laboratory research into field-scale applications.
