(Senior) Group Leader, Advanced Genome Technologies

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead a flagship research programme in advanced genome technologies, focusing on novel plant transformation, regeneration, and DNA/RNA delivery systems.
• Recruit, lead, and manage a high-performing team of research scientists, postdocs, and PhD candidates.
• Drive rigorous experimental design, execution, and data interpretation to ensure reproducible scientific outcomes.
• Manage research program milestones, project resources, personnel, and budgets.
• Foster collaborations across EIT Oxford and the wider scientific and commercial ecosystem.
• Work with translation teams to convert research results into commercial opportunities and intellectual property.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading research groups within academia or industry.
• Recognized thought leader in the field of plant biotechnology or genome technologies.
• Experience managing large, interdisciplinary teams of PhDs and postdoctoral researchers.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver against long-term strategic research programs.
• Strong commercial awareness and experience developing partnerships with technical partners or licensees.
• Excellent project management, communication, and resource allocation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in large scale DNA delivery, targeted insertions, or engineering Agrobacterium.
• Experience with high throughput approaches or automation in plant science.
