Senior Functional Safety Engineer I

Responsibilities

• Execute functional safety management activities across the full product development lifecycle
• Develop and maintain the Functional Safety Plan and compile safety case documentation
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams to implement safety concepts
• Support design teams with safety analyses including FMEDA, FTA, and DFA
• Ensure consistency and traceability of requirements and configuration management
• Participate in internal and external functional safety audits and assessments
• Provide guidance and coaching to project teams on safety processes and methodologies

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in functional safety, embedded systems, or semiconductor product development
• Solid understanding of ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 safety lifecycle processes
• Experience with FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA methodologies
• Proficiency with requirements management and traceability tools such as Polarion
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• TÜV Automotive Functional Safety Professional (AFSP) or equivalent certification
• Experience in automotive or industrial safety applications
• Knowledge of automotive communication protocols and MCU/SoC architectures
• Familiarity with ASPICE or similar development processes
• Experience supporting customer or certification audits
