About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage physical and paper freight trading positions to support team goals and targets
  • Drive the desk's exposure management strategy, including oversight of paper trades
  • Develop and execute innovative trading strategies and book-building opportunities
  • Structure short-term time charter and COA deals by assessing broader market trends
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Oil desks, Operations, Vetting, and Finance
  • Build and maintain relationships with global counterparties, including owners, brokers, and charterers
  • Provide market insights and contribute to the development of internal analysis models
  • Mentor and guide junior team members through onboarding, training, and coaching

Requirements

  • Substantial experience in frontline trading, chartering, or broking
  • Deep experience in third-party negotiations
  • In-depth understanding of shipping operations and maximizing operational efficiency
  • Strong understanding of charter party terms and their legal and financial impacts
  • Capability in managing physical options and derivatives at regional and book levels
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain flexibility regarding time zones
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a high-performing team
