About the role

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted FPGA security advisor to aerospace and defense customers, leading discussions on threat modeling and risk tradeoffs.
  • Translate mission requirements and regulatory constraints into practical FPGA security architectures and recommendations.
  • Advise on secure FPGA design, including bitstream encryption, authentication, secure boot, and chain-of-trust implementation.
  • Support technical engagements involving key management, device identity, and protection against reverse engineering or IP theft.
  • Partner with Sales, Field Applications Engineers, and Product teams to support complex customer engagements and design wins.
  • Provide customer-driven feedback to internal teams to influence Altera’s FPGA product security roadmaps and strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in FPGA design, SoC architecture, or hardware security.
  • Expertise in FPGA security features such as bitstream encryption, secure boot, key management, and device authentication.
  • Proven experience supporting aerospace, defense, or government (ADG) programs.
  • Experience working directly with customers in a technical advisory or pre-sales capacity.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex security topics to both technical and executive stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SoC FPGAs and embedded processors, such as ARM-based platforms.
  • Familiarity with anti-tamper technologies, IP protection, and physically unclonable functions (PUFs).
  • Knowledge of cryptographic implementations and key management in constrained hardware environments.
  • Understanding of hardware security standards and frameworks relevant to the ADG market.
  • Exposure to supply chain security, trusted manufacturing, and device provenance.
