About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop embedded software for environments with constrained timing and memory resources to prototype new storage innovations.
- Design and implement reusable code, debug issues, and validate firmware architecture and implementations.
- Create novel approaches for firmware algorithms related to Flash Translation Layer (FTL), Garbage Collection, and Performance QoS.
- Perform unit and integration testing to prove code viability and collaborate with architects on implementation details.
- Provide analysis on technical tradeoffs and recommend optimized approaches based on collected data and metrics.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in software or firmware development, integration, and validation in an embedded systems environment.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming.
- Experience with embedded firmware development running in a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS).
- Experience with firmware development environments including compilers, debuggers, emulators, and toolchains.
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Python and Linux scripting for data parsing and automation.
- Experience with enterprise fabric and storage interface protocols such as PCIe, NVMe, or FC.
- Experience using source control and code review systems like Git.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to work in ambiguous environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting designs and technical concepts.
