Senior Fire Control Systems Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and test fire control and engagement management software
• Develop core functionality such as track ingestion, target state handling, and engagement state machines
• Design software interfaces and message flows across radar, C2 nodes, and launchers
• Build deterministic, fault-tolerant behavior under tight timing and reliability constraints
• Partner with systems engineering, hardware, and GNC teams to deliver end-to-end capability
• Contribute to verification and validation through SIL/HIL/HWIL environments
• Help establish engineering best practices for safety-critical defense software

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
• 6+ years of experience in mission-critical, real-time, or embedded software systems
• Proficiency in C++ and Python
• Experience with Linux and mixed software/hardware integration
• Experience with real-time messaging and low-latency communications (e.g., DDS, UDP, TCP)
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience with fire control, battle management, or weapon system integration
• Experience building software for DoD or IC customers in classified environments
• Familiarity with software safety practices like hazard analysis and fail-safe design
• Knowledge of MIL-STD-882E and requirements traceability
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or flight test support
• Familiarity with DevSecOps and CI/CD tooling
