About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate day-to-day financial operations, including revenue accounting, accounts payable, expense reimbursements, and payroll-related processes.
  • Review and reconcile financial records for operating, research, endowment, and trust funds to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Provide financial advice and guidance to faculty, staff, and students regarding University and Faculty financial policies and procedures.
  • Support research grant administration by monitoring grant balances, commitments, and incoming funds, and assisting with deficit resolution.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities by compiling data, preparing projections, and monitoring variances.
  • Process a wide range of financial transactions, such as purchase orders, invoices, and journals, ensuring adherence to external funding policies.
  • Act as a liaison between the department and central University units including Financial Services, Procurement, and Payroll.

Requirements

  • High school graduation.
  • Diploma in Accounting or Payroll.
  • CPA Level 2.
  • 4 years of related financial experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of financial administration and policy application.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a post-secondary or public-sector environment.
  • Experience administering and monitoring diverse funding sources and ensuring compliance.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills for investigating financial discrepancies.
  • Previous experience using Workday financial systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex policies to diverse stakeholders.
