Senior Financial Specialist

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate day-to-day financial operations, including revenue accounting, cost recoveries, and payroll-related financial processes
• Review and reconcile financial records for operating, research, endowment, and trust funds
• Provide financial advice and guidance to faculty, staff, and students regarding University and Faculty policies
• Support research grant administration by monitoring grant balances, commitments, and incoming funds
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities by compiling data and preparing standard projections
• Process a wide range of financial transactions, including purchase orders, invoices, and international payments
• Act as a liaison with central University units such as Financial Services, Procurement, and Payroll to resolve complex issues

Requirements

• Diploma in Accounting or Payroll CPA Level 2
• Four years of related financial experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of financial administration practices
• Experience with accounts payable and receivable

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a post-secondary or public-sector environment
• Experience administering and monitoring funding from various sources and ensuring compliance
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills for investigating financial discrepancies
• Previous experience using Workday financial systems
• Strong interpersonal skills for maintaining cooperative relationships in a shared service context
