About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate day-to-day financial operations, including revenue accounting, cost recoveries, and payroll-related financial processes
- Review and reconcile financial records for operating, research, endowment, and trust funds
- Provide financial advice and guidance to faculty, staff, and students regarding University and Faculty policies
- Support research grant administration by monitoring grant balances, commitments, and incoming funds
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities by compiling data and preparing standard projections
- Process a wide range of financial transactions, including purchase orders, invoices, and international payments
- Act as a liaison with central University units such as Financial Services, Procurement, and Payroll to resolve complex issues
Requirements
- Diploma in Accounting or Payroll CPA Level 2
- Four years of related financial experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of financial administration practices
- Experience with accounts payable and receivable
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a post-secondary or public-sector environment
- Experience administering and monitoring funding from various sources and ensuring compliance
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills for investigating financial discrepancies
- Previous experience using Workday financial systems
- Strong interpersonal skills for maintaining cooperative relationships in a shared service context
