Senior Financial Aid Counselor

Responsibilities

• Assist the Financial Aid Director with all aspects of federal student aid administration.
• Advise prospective applicants and current students on the application process, need calculations, and recipient rights and responsibilities.
• Review financial aid applications, including verifications, dependency overrides, and special circumstances, to package awards in compliance with regulations.
• Support the collection of required documentation and the processing of forms related to federal student aid.
• Serve as an information resource for incoming, transfer, and re-entering students to support them through graduation.
• Assist in developing, revising, and updating office processes related to federal and institutional aid programs.
• Conduct financial aid workshops and promote the department's presence via social media and the college website.
• Provide excellent customer service and conflict resolution via telephone, email, and written correspondence.

Requirements

• 2-3 years of experience working with student financial aid programs.
• Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal financial aid administration, including legal requirements, deadlines, and reporting.
• Basic accounting skills and experience in a business office environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong multitasking abilities and excellent customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, or a related field.
• Master's degree in a relevant area of specialization.
• Experience with financial aid software.
