Senior Field Application Scientist, Protein XI

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical expert for customers using the new Protein XI proteomic platform, providing pre- and post-sales scientific support.
• Conduct product demonstrations, technical presentations, and workflow consultations for prospective and existing customers.
• Troubleshoot complex assay challenges and data interpretation issues involving both immunoassays and NGS.
• Lead the Early Access Program (EAP) by managing site selection, onboarding, and customer cadence.
• Participate in method development and prototype evaluation during an initial onsite rotation at MSD headquarters.
• Develop customer-facing content including application notes, training materials, and troubleshooting guides.
• Mentor junior Field Application Scientists and provide internal training to refine onboarding programs.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, R&D, and Product Management to provide field-centric feedback and identify customer needs.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, or a related field (Master’s degree with equivalent experience will be considered).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Field Application Scientist or scientific support position.
• Hands-on experience with NGS workflows, including library preparation and sequencing platforms.
• Demonstrated expertise with immunoassays (e.g., multiplexed platforms, ELISA, or proximity extension assays).
• Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time to customer sites and events.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience contributing to the development of application notes, SOPs, or other scientific collateral.
• Proficiency with CRM systems such as Salesforce for documenting customer interactions.
• Familiarity with cloud-based analysis tools and data visualization platforms.
