About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and lighting systems.
  • Follow preventative maintenance schedules and operate building systems to ensure proper function.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or projects.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, codes, and company policies, including maintaining inspection records.
  • Perform general upkeep, including cosmetic work, painting, and floor repairs.
  • Execute Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) tasks such as HAZMAT coordination and updating SDS databases.
  • Assist with physical security projects, warehouse operations, and equipment moves.
  • Monitor inventory, order materials/parts, and manage the equipment calibration program.
  • Respond to internal employee requests and handle facilities emergencies (on-call for after-hours/weekends).

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-year technical degree or certification and 4+ years of hands-on experience in a high-tech environment (electronics, optics lab, data center, or manufacturing).
  • Proven experience with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
  • Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, technical specifications, and SOPs.
  • Physical ability to perform strenuous work, including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, and working overhead.
  • Proficiency in Google and Microsoft platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in R&D laboratory spaces (optics, electronics, etc.).
  • Safety certifications such as OSHA 30, First Aid, CPR, AED, or BBP.
  • Experience with CAD software.
  • Experience in highly secured environments (ITAR, CUI, or classified).
  • Experience with security systems, including access control and cameras.
  • Experience with site buildouts, relocations, or decommissioning.
  • Experience participating in safety committees and performing root cause analysis.
