Senior Equipment Engineer

About the Company

Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor designed to provide critical power to hospitals, data centers, and remote sites.

Responsibilities

• Partner with design and manufacturing engineers to develop innovative production equipment for fabricating and assembling complex mechanisms and structures
• Design, analyze, and fabricate equipment that enables semi-remote operations for fueling/defueling of the reactor
• Identify and develop appropriate suppliers for components and fabrication

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or related engineering discipline
• 4+ years of experience in mechanical equipment design and fabrication of multi-component assemblies in CAD (NX or similar)
• Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Ability to work 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering
• Proficiency with hand calculation analytical methods and finite element-based analysis
• Experience with custom machine design, electromechanical systems, motors, actuators, and linear rails
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
