About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Clean Air Act regulations and air permitting requirements.
- Coordinate and lead permitting activities for Refining and Renewable Fuels projects, including strategy and risk management.
- Provide environmental engineering support to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Build strategic relationships with refineries and departments such as engineering and operations.
- Represent the company in meetings with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
- Identify emerging environmental issues and provide guidance on new initiatives like GHG reduction and sustainability.
- Oversee the implementation of Consent Decrees and Agreements.
- Conduct deep-dive auditing of compliance programs and mentor facility environmental staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a Health, Safety, and Environmental (HES) related field or Engineering.
- 7 years of professional environmental experience in a process industry (refining, midstream, petrochemical, or heavy industry).
- Detailed knowledge of air quality regulations, including NSPS, MACT, NESHAP, Emissions Inventory, NSR, PSD, and Title V.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to review engineering designs and specifications for regulatory compliance.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a TWIC Card.
- Ability to wear appropriate PPE, including respirators, and perform field tasks.
- Willingness to travel 25% - 50%.
