Senior Environmental and Social Specialist

Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of the corporate Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) across the project portfolio.
• Oversee project-specific ESMS to ensure alignment with ESIA, ESAP, and lender requirements.
• Conduct E&S screening and due diligence assessments for potential investment opportunities.
• Coordinate with external E&S consultants, monitoring progress and reviewing deliverables to ensure quality and compliance.
• Manage E&S performance of EPC, suppliers, and O&M contractors through site inspections and documentation reviews.
• Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual E&S internal and external monitoring reports.
• Support the development of social investment strategies, including human rights and community development frameworks.
• Manage stakeholder engagement plans and establish positive relationships with local communities.

Requirements

• Minimum of 12 years of experience in a similar environmental and social role.
• Degree in an Environmental discipline, Engineering, or International Development.
• Extensive experience working with IFC Performance Standards, EBRD E&S Policy, or EIB E&S Standards.
• Proven experience in emerging markets, with a preference for the MENA region or Western Balkans.
• Significant experience with renewable energy assets, specifically wind and solar PV technologies.
• Strong experience in front-end environmental and social studies and assessments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant subject.
• Previous experience working with a Developer, E&S Consultancy, development financial institution, or international construction company.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Multilingual capabilities (e.g., Serbian).
