About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide onsite environmental leadership and practical advice across live construction activities
- Prepare, review, and implement Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP), sub-plans, and Environmental Work Method Statements
- Support compliance with environmental licenses, approvals, permits, and project conditions
- Conduct inspections, audits, and monitoring activities, including supporting corrective actions
- Deliver environmental inductions, toolbox talks, and targeted training to site teams
- Manage environmental controls, monitor their effectiveness, and coordinate necessary maintenance
- Support sustainability data collection and reporting for water, waste, fuel, energy, and materials
- Lead community and stakeholder engagement, including managing complaints and enquiries
- Mentor and support project-based environmental staff
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental roles within civil engineering and infrastructure
- Strong working knowledge of environmental legislation, approvals, and compliance obligations
- Proven experience developing and implementing CEMPs and environmental sub-plans
- Completed training in Blue Book 1 & 2D and Erosion & Sediment Control
- Full driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to work effectively with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, and clients
