Senior Engineering Technician (Mechanical Systems)

Responsibilities

• Act as the go-to resource for the engineering team in building critical hardware for advanced 3D printing machines
• Use a variety of manufacturing tools including lathes, mills, bandsaws, grinders, precision drills, and wire EDMs
• Work with custom additive manufacturing machinery, handle metal powders, and process metal 3D printed parts
• Perform planned maintenance and unplanned repairs on equipment including air compressors, water chillers, and inert gas systems
• Read and utilize mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics to troubleshoot systems
• Organize and improve shop operations and process improvements

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in manufacturing or production
• Experience working in an R&D or custom job shop environment
• Experience building complex systems with minimal work instructions or blueprints

Preferred Qualifications

• Skilled with manual machining, welding, cutting, fitting, and/or bending of stainless steels, aluminums, and high-strength nickel alloys
• Formal hardware-centric technical training or certification (A&P license, NTMA license)
• Ability to utilize power tools, hand tools, cranes, forklifts, and other heavy equipment
• Use of precision measuring instruments
• Experience setting up and maintaining facility systems (air, water, and cryogenic inert gas systems)
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and climb ladders
• Willingness to work overtime when needed
