Senior Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

• Drive the evolution of core database and SQL capabilities to serve emerging AI and agentic workloads
• Lead and grow a team of engineers in the design, development, and support of a highly-parallel and fault-tolerant SQL database system
• Support engineers in their career development by providing clear feedback and developing engineering leaders
• Translate product requirements into engineering work for your team
• Collaborate with local and global teams across Engineering and Product Management
• Foster a culture of creativity and innovation while promoting practical decision-making

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building and operating large-scale systems (distributed systems, databases, or cloud services)
• 5+ years of experience leading teams to build database system internals
• Rock solid engineering fundamentals
• Exposure to AI, ML, or agent-driven workloads
• Track record of recruiting and leading technical teams
• Proven experience authoring roadmap documents, project plans, and RCAs
• Strong problem solving and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Query processing experience
• Experience leading other managers
• Background in database internals or large-scale data processing systems (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)
• Prior experience running SQL database engineering teams
• Experience managing projects with JIRA
