Senior Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the Market Making engineering team, including recruiting and developing engineers
• Set technical direction for distributed, event-driven systems using Java, Kafka, Redis, Postgres, and Kubernetes
• Own team delivery and operational excellence, defining goals for availability and performance
• Partner with trading and product teams to align roadmap priorities
• Build operational foundations including on-call rotations, incident response, and kill switch protocols
• Develop fluency in trading economics to inform resourcing and prioritization decisions
• Advocate for the team across the organization regarding P&L ownership and headcount

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• 4+ years of experience managing engineering teams
• Proven success leading teams building distributed, event-driven systems at scale
• Strong familiarity with Java/Kotlin, Kafka, Redis, Postgres, and Kubernetes
• Track record of building engineering organizations in high-growth environments
• Ability to create clarity in ambiguous, complex environments
• Comfortable owning and making decisions based on a real P&L

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in real-time trading systems, financial infrastructure, or prediction markets
• Experience with high-throughput, low-latency platforms
• Familiarity with quantitative concepts like pricing models and inventory management
• Experience establishing on-call programs and SLAs for mission-critical systems
