Senior Engineering Manager - Electrical Design

Responsibilities

• Drive continuous improvement culture to increase quality of engineering and product deliverables
• Assign customer orders to engineering staff and ensure deadlines are met
• Review drawings and BOM for local manufacturing to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Manage performance of design engineers through instruction, training, coaching, and mentorship
• Ensure adherence to IEM processes and standard component usage
• Collaborate with the director of engineering and local management to address staff or process deficiencies
• Facilitate factory tours, witness tests, and technical meetings
• Support high-level testing of products and systems in the local test facility
• Conduct regular factory floor walks to work with production teams and inspect equipment
• Travel occasionally (up to 15%) to customer sites or other facilities for surveys and meetings

Requirements

• Four-year college degree in Electrical Engineering
• At least 5 years of design engineering experience in switchgear, power generation, or custom control systems
• At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role providing mentorship to design engineers
• Expertise in power engineering related to LV and MV switchgear (120V to 38kV)
• Experience with design of custom control systems with automation elements
• Understanding of NRTL certifications and UL listings
• Experience with functional testing
