About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow the Compute Data Plane team building VM and bare-metal host lifecycle infrastructure
- Own reliability, performance, and scalability of compute systems at scale
- Drive technical strategy for hypervisor management, host provisioning pipelines, and control plane integration
- Define and execute the compute data plane roadmap aligned with fleet growth and product goals
- Partner with networking, storage, GPU platform, and infrastructure reliability teams
- Establish engineering best practices, on-call culture, and operational rigor
- Hire, develop, and retain engineers; represent the team in technical and leadership forums
Requirements
- 8+ years of software or systems engineering experience with 3+ years in engineering management
- Deep technical background in hypervisor internals (KVM/QEMU), Linux systems, bare-metal provisioning, or distributed systems
- Experience building or operating large-scale compute infrastructure in cloud, HPC, or hyperscaler environments
- Track record of delivering reliable, high-availability infrastructure systems at scale
- Strong systems thinking across the full stack from hardware to control plane
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in fast-moving environments
- Experience managing senior engineers and setting technical direction
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GPU infrastructure or accelerated compute workloads
- Familiarity with OpenStack, cloud-init, iPXE, or similar provisioning tooling
- Background in infrastructure at an IaaS cloud provider
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation-first operational models
