Senior Engineering Manager, AI Agents

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of Five9’s AI Agent software platform
• Build and manage a high-performing engineering team developing scalable, production-grade AI systems
• Hire and develop engineers while improving engineering processes
• Guide architecture discussions, technical decisions, and engineering best practices
• Collaborate with Product, SRE, Support, and other engineering teams
• Set technical direction for the platform and influence roadmaps
• Drive end-to-end architecture for complex platforms

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience in software development for GenAI platforms for Customer Support/CX
• 10+ years of total software development experience
• 5+ years of software development experience, ideally in Java
• 5+ years of experience in enterprise SaaS software development
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science or similar
• Experience using Claude Code or similar AI coding assistants
• Expertise in Java and JVM-based frameworks
• Experience with distributed, event-driven systems and API design (REST/gRPC)
• Familiarity with LLMs, prompt orchestration, and RAG pipelines
• Experience with public cloud platforms (GCP preferred, or AWS/Azure)
• Strong command of SRE principles and observability
