Senior Engineer, Process Development & Sustaining Engineering

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new manufacturing processes or improve existing ones for HDD production
• Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) to characterize process windows and optimize outputs
• Evaluate and qualify new chemicals, materials, and process consumables
• Own sustaining engineering for assigned process modules to ensure stability and control
• Monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts and lead structured problem-solving
• Lead yield loss analysis and drive Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA)
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing
• Mentor and coach junior and mid-level process engineers

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or Polymer Science
• Strong fundamentals in chemistry and materials science
• Proficiency in DOE methodologies (full factorial, RSM, Taguchi)
• Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and tools like JMP or Minitab
• Familiarity with thin film, surface treatment, wet chemical, or cleaning processes
• Understanding of failure analysis techniques (SEM, EDX, XRD, FTIR)
• Knowledge of chemical safety, EHS regulations, and REACH/RoHS compliance

Preferred Qualifications

• 5-10 years of experience in a process or manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of HDD media cleaning technology
• Experience with SPC, FMEA, and technical report writing
• Green Belt or Lean Six Sigma certification
• Strong technical presentation and communication skills
