Senior Engineer, Process Development & Sustaining Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, optimization, and sustaining of manufacturing processes for HDD storage products.
• Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) to characterize process windows and identify critical process parameters.
• Evaluate and qualify new chemicals, materials, and process consumables for high-volume manufacturing.
• Own sustaining engineering for assigned modules, ensuring processes remain stable and within specification.
• Monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts and lead structured problem-solving for out-of-control signals.
• Drive yield loss analysis and Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) for process-related defects.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and technology transfer from R&D to mass production.
• Mentor and coach junior and mid-level process engineers within the Penang team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Strong fundamentals in chemistry and materials science.
• Proficiency in DOE methodologies (e.g., full factorial, RSM, Taguchi).
• Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and statistical analysis tools like JMP or Minitab.
• Familiarity with thin film, surface treatment, wet chemical, or cleaning processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5-10 years of experience in a process or manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of HDD media cleaning technology.
• Experience with FMEA, technical report writing, and failure analysis techniques (SEM, EDX, XRD).
• Green Belt or Lean Six Sigma certification.
• Strong technical presentation and communication skills.
