Senior Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform distribution studies including voltage, thermal, N-1, and power factor assessments
• Analyze complex DER distribution system interconnections and new customer load interconnections
• Identify distribution system deficiencies using established criteria and utility engineering practices
• Utilize distribution planning tools such as GIS (SMWeb, SmartMap), SAP, and Load Data systems
• Innovate and integrate improvements to increase the precision and efficiency of distribution planning
• Mentor and support the team by developing subject matter expertise
• Collaborate with internal teams and industry peers and assist during storm restoration efforts

Requirements

• BSEE degree required (other engineering disciplines may be considered based on experience)
• 5+ years of industry-related experience
• Advanced proficiency in power system analytics software such as CYME, PSSE, or ASPEN
• Strong knowledge of power system studies including power flow, DER, voltage, and contingency
• Understanding of local, state, and federal regulatory standards (NERC, NPCC, ISO, PUC, etc.)
• Ability to document and interpret engineering documentation and review the work of others
