About the role
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize scalable, fault-tolerant distributed file systems (object, block, and file storage)
- Define system architecture focusing on high availability, consistency, and performance
- Drive design decisions across storage, networking, and compute layers
- Deeply engage with Linux kernel internals, filesystem internals, and the I/O stack
- Optimize performance across the VFS layer, page cache, block layer, and networking stack (TCP/IP, RDMA)
- Debug kernel-level issues including panics, memory leaks, and I/O bottlenecks
- Implement replication, erasure coding, consensus protocols (Raft/Paxos), and metadata management
- Analyze system performance (latency, throughput, IOPS) and conduct benchmarking
- Build systems for fault detection, recovery, self-healing, and observability (metrics, tracing, logging)
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- 3+ years of experience in systems engineering
- Strong expertise in Linux kernel internals and filesystems (ext4, XFS, btrfs, ZFS)
- Experience with distributed storage systems such as Ceph, HDFS, GlusterFS, or Lustre
- Deep understanding of memory management, concurrency, synchronization, and networking protocols
- Proficiency with debugging and profiling tools including perf, ftrace, eBPF, gdb, and crash dump analysis
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to lead cross-functional teams
