About the role

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze energy usage in campus buildings and central plants to identify and correct deficiencies
  • Identify and quantify savings for energy conservation measures (ECMs) and retro-commissioning measures (RCMs)
  • Manage complex energy and GHG-related analyses, including decarbonization strategies and infrastructure project support
  • Oversee ASHRAE Level I, II, and III audits and manage the implementation of energy-related projects
  • Develop scopes of work, issue RFPs, negotiate contracts, and ensure work quality and performance (M&V)
  • Manage compliance with NYC Local Laws, including LL84, LL87, LL88, and LL97
  • Provide technical expertise for greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and sustainability programs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5-7 years of related experience in energy engineering or a similar field
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven expertise in energy analysis and project management
  • Ability to contribute immediately with minimal orientation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Building Systems Engineering, or Building Sciences
  • Experience with energy consulting, engineering design firms, or facilities operations
  • Experience with monitoring-based commissioning
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or LEED Accredited Professional credentials
  • Proficiency in building performance simulation software (e.g., DOE2, eQUEST, EnergyPlus, or Revit MEP)
  • Familiarity with NYC energy codes and NYSERDA incentive programs
