About the role
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze energy usage in campus buildings and central plants to identify and correct deficiencies
- Identify and quantify savings for energy conservation measures (ECMs) and retro-commissioning measures (RCMs)
- Manage complex energy and GHG-related analyses, including decarbonization strategies and infrastructure project support
- Oversee ASHRAE Level I, II, and III audits and manage the implementation of energy-related projects
- Develop scopes of work, issue RFPs, negotiate contracts, and ensure work quality and performance (M&V)
- Manage compliance with NYC Local Laws, including LL84, LL87, LL88, and LL97
- Provide technical expertise for greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and sustainability programs
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 5-7 years of related experience in energy engineering or a similar field
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven expertise in energy analysis and project management
- Ability to contribute immediately with minimal orientation
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Building Systems Engineering, or Building Sciences
- Experience with energy consulting, engineering design firms, or facilities operations
- Experience with monitoring-based commissioning
- Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or LEED Accredited Professional credentials
- Proficiency in building performance simulation software (e.g., DOE2, eQUEST, EnergyPlus, or Revit MEP)
- Familiarity with NYC energy codes and NYSERDA incentive programs
