Senior Employment Counsel

Responsibilities

• Manage compliance programs for state and federal employment laws including meal periods, payroll, and harassment
• Develop HR policies regarding accommodations, leaves of absence, and onboarding
• Conduct regular audits of compliance programs and implement corrective actions
• Provide legal counsel on employment separation, job classifications, and recruiting
• Draft and deliver legal training to people leaders
• Manage OFCCP compliance reports and filings
• Advise on benefits law and review benefit contracts
• Monitor labor and employment law developments
• Own the drafting and updating of the Employee Handbook

Requirements

• JD from an ABA accredited school
• 10+ years of employment law experience
• Admitted to the bar in good standing in at least one U.S. State
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed
• Must meet U.S. ITAR requirements (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with California employment law
• Experience with AAP preparation or OFCCP compliance evaluations
• Experience counseling clients with significant domestic manufacturing or international operations
• Experience with a major law firm or corporation
