Senior Embedded Software Engineer

About the Company

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is a joint venture between two industry leaders focused on automotive software-defined vehicles, including operating systems, zonal controllers, and cloud connectivity solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate foundational platform software including drivers, operating systems, and middleware
• Design and deploy embedded software for power management, vehicle reset, occupancy detection, diagnostics, and OTA updates
• Collaborate with hardware teams on design, schematics, and validation
• Partner with cross-functional teams like Charging, Body Controls, and Infotainment to meet application requirements

Requirements

• 5+ years of embedded software/firmware development experience
• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Expert C programming skills
• Deep familiarity with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
• Expertise in embedded software development and optimization
• Understanding of multi-threaded and multi-core programming
• Proficiency with microcontrollers and hardware bring-up
• Experience with systems involving live sensor inputs
• Hands-on debugging with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with automotive protocols such as CAN, UDS, and DOIP
• Experience with battery monitoring firmware or power electronics
