About the role

Responsibilities

  • Build, rework, and repair prototype and early-production PCBAs, including fine-pitch SMT components, BGAs, QFNs, and flex circuits
  • Execute electrical bring-up and functional test procedures on new boards and subsystems
  • Debug hardware problems at the bench using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, and protocol decoders
  • Develop and maintain test fixtures, jigs, and bring-up scripts in partnership with engineering teams
  • Support battery pack assembly, instrumentation, and characterization
  • Perform incoming inspection and first-article evaluation on components and assemblies
  • Support full-robot integration, including harness build and electrical commissioning
  • Document work clearly, including rework notes, test reports, and work instructions
  • Maintain the electronics lab, ensuring equipment calibration and ESD compliance
  • Mentor junior technicians on soldering techniques and debug methodology

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on electronics technician experience in a hardware development environment
  • IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD-001 knowledge at a working level
  • Expert fine-pitch hand soldering and rework (BGA, QFN, 0201 passives, etc.)
  • Proficient in reading multi-sheet schematics and multi-layer PCB layouts
  • Expert use of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, and electronic loads
  • Working knowledge of embedded interfaces such as CAN, SPI, I2C, and UART
  • Disciplined ESD practice and electrical safety habits

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with robotics, motor drives, or real-time electromechanical systems
  • Experience with lithium-ion battery pack build and characterization
  • Familiarity with Python or similar scripting for test automation
  • IPC certifications (CIS or CIT) in J-STD-001 and 7711/7721
  • Experience with EMI/EMC pre-compliance testing
