Responsibilities
- Investigate the roles of active materials, binder, and conductive additives on Li-ion battery performance
- Discover and explain the fundamentals of relationships between electrode components and cell performance
- Lead the design, development, qualification, and scale up of novel electrodes
- Apply advanced data analysis, statistical methods, and modeling techniques to interpret test results
- Communicate ideas, plans, and results to internal stakeholders and external partners
- Develop new techniques or test methods to detect downstream challenges early in development
- Identify safety hazards and implement improvements
Requirements
- B.S. in engineering or science with 4+ years of experience in batteries (fewer with an advanced degree)
- Strong technical background in lithium-ion batteries including slurry, coating, cell design, and cell tear down
- Proficiency in databases and data analysis tools such as JMP or Python
- Data-driven approach to problem solving and experimental design
- Understanding of lab safety best practices
- Ability to plan and implement multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience in slurry and coating formulation/process and their characterizations
- Fluency in Japanese or Korean
