Senior Electrode Engineer

Responsibilities

• Investigate the roles of active materials, binder, and conductive additives on Li-ion battery performance
• Discover and explain the fundamentals of relationships between electrode components and cell performance
• Lead the design, development, qualification, and scale up of novel electrodes
• Apply advanced data analysis, statistical methods, and modeling techniques to interpret test results
• Communicate ideas, plans, and results to internal stakeholders and external partners
• Develop new techniques or test methods to detect downstream challenges early in development
• Identify safety hazards and implement improvements

Requirements

• B.S. in engineering or science with 4+ years of experience in batteries (fewer with an advanced degree)
• Strong technical background in lithium-ion batteries including slurry, coating, cell design, and cell tear down
• Proficiency in databases and data analysis tools such as JMP or Python
• Data-driven approach to problem solving and experimental design
• Understanding of lab safety best practices
• Ability to plan and implement multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience in slurry and coating formulation/process and their characterizations
• Fluency in Japanese or Korean
