Senior Electrical Hardware Engineer

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and development of electrical systems for spacecraft avionics, including flight computers, power distribution, guidance, navigation, sensors, actuators, and communication systems
• Perform schematic capture and PCB layout
• Conduct bring-up, testing, and validation of newly designed hardware
• Collaborate with software engineers on hardware and software integration
• Build and test early hardware prototypes to evaluate design concepts and mitigate risks
• Work cross-functionally with mechanical, software, systems, and production teams
• Create design documentation, test procedures, and reports
• Participate in design reviews and mentor other engineers

Requirements

• 5-8 years of experience in hardware engineering
• Expert level knowledge in schematic capture and PCB layout software (e.g., Altium, Cadence/Orcad)
• Familiarity with electronic components, circuits, and test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies)
• Understanding of microcontrollers and common communication interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet)
• Experience with embedded systems and embedded programming concepts
• Comfortable in a Linux development environment
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills
• Must be a U.S. person or eligible to access export-controlled information

Preferred Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• Familiarity with environmental testing (vibration, thermal, EMI)
• Exposure to Python for test automation or data analysis
• Experience with power electronics for space applications (batteries, GaN switching converters)
• Experience with FPGAs, SoC, or embedded Linux platforms
• Previous startup experience
