Senior Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop mature electrical design solutions for stratospheric environments, including flight avionics, power distribution, and battery/solar systems
• Own architecture and design of electrical systems spanning CAN/RS-485 networking, satellite communications, and motor control
• Manage power-budget and electrical-architecture trades for mission profiles
• Serve as a technical mentor to junior engineers on the Super Pressure electrical team
• Perform hands-on board checkout, diagnostic evaluation, and debugging using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
• Drive the board checkout process and develop test hardware and procedures for system-level integration
• Lead design reviews and enforce high standards for design rigor and documentation
• Partner with manufacturing and supply chain to ensure DFM/DFT and component availability
• Collaborate with firmware and software engineers to integrate telemetry and autonomous recovery features

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
• 7+ years of professional electrical engineering experience
• Deep expertise in mixed-signal PCB design and multi-layer layout
• Hands-on experience with motor control and power electronics
• Proficiency with Altium Designer and lab instrumentation
• Experience designing for harsh environments (aerospace, automotive, or defense)
• Experience with CAN/RS-485, UART/SPI/I2C, and GPS/GNSS modules
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Located near Denver, CO

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with stratospheric, space, or UAV systems
• Familiarity with RockBLOCK/Iridium or Starlink-class satcom
• Working knowledge of radiation effects and mitigation strategies
• Familiarity with aerospace quality standards like IPC Class 3 or AS9100
• Proficiency in Python or C for test scripts and firmware collaboration
